MAHAMUDRA AND TREKCHÖ RETREAT: Resting in the Natural State
con Richard John
March 13 - 29, 2026
“There is nothing superior to, or more precious than, being able to break the chain of discursive thinking”. -Tulku Urgyen
Casa Werma is a magical place, blessed by both Sakyongs, in a region of Mexico that has been sacred to the indigenous population for centuries. There is no better place to practice the profound teachings of mahamudra and its dzogchen equivalent, trekchö.
This 13th annual retreat will be guided by the pith instructions of Kagyu and Nyingma lineage masters, including the Ninth Karmapa, Jamgon Kongtrul the Great, Tulku Urgyen, Khenpo Gangshar and the Vidyadhara, Chögyam Trungpa. The retreat will be mostly in silence, with ample time for deep practice, individual study, conversation and interviews, and the opportunity to enjoy the peaceful beauty of this place.
The superb meals, housekeeping and gardens are provided and maintained by local Mexican sangha and staff, who have been the heart of the Casa Werma family for many years. Whether this is your first visit or you have attended many of these retreats, in the midst of such chaos and anxiety in the world this is a rare opportunity to practice with a group of committed vajra friends.
Space is limited to 20 participants, so early registration is strongly recommended. To receive the “early bird” discount, register before January 19, 2026. After registration fills, you can request to be on a waiting list.
Prerequisite
Participants must have received the pointing out transmission of mind nature from a qualified teacher of the Kagyu or Nyingma lineage.n
