Date and Time Details: The first and last program dates for any program at Casa Werma are considered primarily travel days. We start with dinner on arrival day, followed by orientation and opening remarks by the teacher. On all other program days, we start before breakfast with opening chants and practice at 7:00 a.m. and end after dinner with practice and closing chants by 9:00 p.m. There is a two-hour midday break daily. On the final listed program day, departure day, there will be no program activities and a light, continental breakfast will be available to all participants.

This week will embrace the practice of rousing and communicating with drala both formally through all Shambhala vajrayana practice and in daily life. The refined setting of Casa Werma and the nearby Tzintzuntzan, where the Dorje Dradul went on the day he received the Werma Sadhana are accessible places with which to explore what exactly it means to call on the dralas. If you have SSA requirements the container will accommodate your doing your personal practice, and special SSA break outs will occur.

This retreat will meet group practice requirements for werma and Scorpion Seal practitioners.

Retreat at Casa Werma offers:

  • Stroke practice at the table where the Dorje Dradul wrote the Werma Sadhana
  • Lush drala gardens
  • A visit to the nearby archeological site, Tzintzuntzan (“the place of the hummingbird”),
    • the ruins where both Sakyongs have performed lhasangs
    • a courtyard filled with “the oldest olive trees in the New World”
  • Local artisans in pottery, ceramics, wood-carving, embroidery, and reed-weaving.

This retreat is for all Shambhala Vajrayana practice. Retreatants will receive a list of practice and study materials to bring.
