Write From Where You Are - Memoir Workshop

We often think that the stories worth writing about and publishing are the ones that happen somewhere out in the world, so we tend to look at external experiences for material, rather than where we are now. But if we expand our sense of awareness and attention, we can discover that the stories themselves aren’t as distant as we think, and that they are actually searching for us. And whether these stories take the form of poems, prose, journalism, photographs, a song, etc, the important part is that we are the ones to tell them, write them, sing and dance them into the light. This workshop will guide participants into the process of gathering their own stories, and turning them into impactful writing.

This workshop is open to writers of all levels and genres and will include meditation instruction, sitting meditation, a discussion on memoir craft ( research, ethics, structure and publishing), generative writing exercises, and sharing of your work if desired.

Registration $108 usd, full program tuition not including accommodations.

Hotel Accommodations: Shared lodging at Casa Werma is available in our Casita for $50 usd per night. For those who are interested in staying off site, we recommend the following hotels in Centro Patzcuaro:

Travel Arrangements:

For those of you that are flying, we recommend flights into Morelia airport (90 minutes away by car). If you need help with travel arrangements, please inquire about options.
